One discovery of note that I made while visiting a friend in Melbourne over the past several days is this: I made a grievous mistake with this post on Aug 8 about the nasty behaviour of some shoppers.
Back then, I had griped about buying a packet of organic beverage only to find on taking the cap off, that someone had already punched thru the [...]

Two other eating events, or to be more accurate 3 other eating events, in December stuck in my memory, although there are pix for only two of them.
The first was not so much the food or the event itself, altho both were off the beaten track enough to qualify as memorable in my calendar.
It was Dec [...]

I’m beginning to suspect I’ve become something of a nemesis to the cashiers at Cold Storage Supermarket at Great World City.
You see, I once again discovered a price discrepancy for one item, between what was posted on the shelf and what the cashier charged at the check-out when he scanned the item.
I never imagined I [...]

On Sunday and Monday, (Oct 19 n 20), much against my intention, I found myself back again at two cafes I’ve written about earlier : namely Sophe’s New Green Pasture Cafe at Fortune Centre and 12 X 12 cafe at Suntec City.
So much for intentions! On Sunday morning, SF called and said she’s come down [...]

I’ve been a fan of Oatly, the Swedish oragnic oat milk, ever since I first discovered it in April 2006 when I was trying to combat a bad cholesterol problem.
While I was attracted to the product initially in the belief that oats might help in my fight to lower the bad cholesterol and improve the good, [...]

fan tuan or rice roll
As usual, I’m a sucker for bargains. So on Tuesday evening when I wandered over to Square 2 at Novena to buy one of my favourite foods — rice rolls from a Taiwanese joint called QQ Rice– for dinner, I found myself buying two rolls and two drinks, instead of just [...]

Talk about making money hand over fist. That’s what Sophie’s “New Green Pasture Cafe” on the 4th floor of Fortune Centre seems to be doing.
It’s a tiny little place with a wall of shelves, a counter behind which Sophie n helpers do the cooking and about three tables. The room is smaller than a HDB [...]
