In the past three decades or so since I’ve been invited to the open house of this family on X’mas Day, I never know whom I’ll meet when I get there.
In the past, I’ve met the late Bonnie Hicks — author of Excuse me, are you a model — well be4 she became famous and dead. Dick Lee, the Mad China Man, on another occasion, if I remember correctly. And so on.
But who I saw — and briefly shook hands with in standard meet and greet format — is probably the most well known of the crop I consider current famous personalities in SG.
Mr Billionaire in relax mode
Tataata… he is none other than Peter Lim, once known as the remisier king but more recently better known as one of the multi-billionaires of SG with a penchant for football clubs — Manchester United and Liverpool in particular — and sports in general.
Later, in the inner sanctum where we were feasting on this spread (see pix), talk turned to Peter Lim out in the porch with the other group when a relative of the family by marriage asked if he came to the gathering alone.
On hearing that he brought his wife, relative-by-marriage and kaypoh moi decided to go out to the porch again and check out what the woman who married a billionaire looks like. We were told she was in a mustard color top.
Well, sour grapes moi must report that the billionaire Mrs looked like your everyday auntie. So ordinary that I probably shook her hands too as I made from the outer to the inner sanctums but nothing much registered!

Peter Lim looks slimmer these days. I thought I saw him running along Cluny Road last weekend at 7.15am. Not surprising actually.
Hi Blur! Haha, I’ve never seen him in life till Dec 25, 2011, so can’t say if he’s slimmed down or not.
Still, very likely u saw him jogging in Cluny Rd since he’s supposed to live in a whole block of flats in nearby Draycott Road.
Myself I’ve seen Dr Ng Eng Hen jogging along Minden Road
He lives somewhere off Jervois Road.
U referring to Cherie Lim right sorfern? same thing happened to me some time ago at a golf event… shook hands with her even took photo together then later realised who she was haha
I have never seen hin in real life as well but judging from press photos, he does look slimmer.

2) If I were a billionaire’s wife, I’d like to be like Cherie Lim, ordinary n unassuming unlike those tai-tais one sees in Tatler, Peak, whatever.
Have you heard of the Chinese saying? Covering the precious pearls with straw. That’s the sort of style I admire.
